Anthem Studies in Asian Mobilities across the Globe

Anthem Studies in Asian Mobilities across the Globe publishes manuscripts that critically engage with new developments in the field of Asian migration(s), transnationalism and im/mobilities across the globe. We think of these fields as interlinked and welcome an array of novel approaches that pushes our collective thinking in new directions. As migrants are increasingly faced with stricter rules, the commercialization of migration trajectories, and ongoing restrictions in terms of mobility across and between borders, what does “mobility” look like? What does the future hold in store? With this series we are particularly keen on publishing studies that critically examine the migration toolkit itself. Do the terms and concepts migration scholars used in the past still work when examining contemporary forms of mobility?

The focus on Asia in this series can be interpreted in multiple ways. While we recognize that Asia itself is a primary site for migration we are also keen to consider studies that focus on Asian migrants’ trajectories elsewhere in the world. Besides that, you are most welcome to contact us if your work focuses on non-Asian migrants in Asia. We are particularly interested in scholarly work that builds upon extensive fieldwork by means of participant-observation, (semi-structured/open) interviews and/or the detailed scrutiny of policy documents and/archival material. We are happy to consider single/multiple author books. If you would like to propose an edited volume, we encourage editors to formulate a clear plan of how a set of papers contributes collectively to furthering the field of migration and related ones.
