About This Book
With a focus on the relationship between Orwell and Kopp during the Spanish Civil War, ‘George Orwell’s Commander in Spain: The Enigma of Georges Kopp’ is the first biography of a fascinating figure: double spy, fraud, brilliant inventor and stout-hearted commander.
Reviews
‘An indispensable book for all interested in Orwell and, indeed, the machinations of espionage rings in World War II.’ —Peter Davison, editor of ‘The Complete Works of George Orwell’
‘I’m sure it will shed yet a little more light on George Orwell and how others saw him’ —Richard Blair, Orwell Society
‘Mr Wildemeersch has written a fascinating account about one of the most mysterious figures in the Spanish Civil War. I strongly recommend this book, which is the first proper in-depth biography of Orwell’s comrade in arms.’ — Christopher Hall, International Brigades Memorial Trust
