The Anthem Series on Modern Israel: Cultures, Languages, Identities publishes innovative research dedicated to the interplay between various forms of cultural expression in Israel (e.g. Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, Yiddish, etc.). The series encourages scholarship that engages comparatively and draws on a variety of interdisciplinary approaches, including literary, cultural, film and theatre studies, anthropology, history and sociology. The aim of the series is to promote critical reflection on diverse patterns of constructing Middle Eastern cultural, linguistic, ethnic, national, religious, and political identities and to contextualize competing cultural and historical narratives in broader regional and global contexts beyond narrowly-defined ideological frameworks.

Our titles are published in print and e-book editions and are subject to peer review by recognized authorities in the field.
